Verbal Description & Touch Tour – Carnegie Mansion
Description
Join us for a tour of the iconic Carnegie Mansion, the former home of industrial magnate Andrew Carnegie and current home of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. The impressive 64-room mansion, built from 1899 to 1902, is a fascinating study in innovative design, and many of the home’s original elements remain in the building today. Through rich verbal description and tactile exploration, we will take a close look at many of the intricate and beautiful design elements built into the mansion’s interior while also learning about the daily life of the Carnegie family in the early 20th century.
